Sound of Silence
Deep breath in.
Deep breath out.
It seemed to Mike that all he could hear was his own heart beating and almost jumping out of his chest. This isn’t fair, but he knew that if he tries to rebel it will just cause him to end up in a worse situation. His palms felt were sweaty and his gripped the edges of his shirt. He looked down at the group and closed his eyes. Maybe if he pretends that nothing is there, everything will actually go away. ‘Please,’ he prayed, ‘please tell them to leave me alone.’ However, they don’t. Mike curls himself up into a ball in the corner as he grimaces under the pain. His brows furrowed under the pain and his lips were pressed into a tight line. If only they can stop.
The throbbing of his body woke him up. He was lying on the cold hard ground. It was raining. His forehead was burning but the soreness of his muscles kept him from moving. With a groan, he rolled back into a ball. He slammed his fist into the pavement and opened his mouth in the shape of an O. No sound came out. He closed his eyes for a few seconds and started to cry. No one stopped to help him. He had so much in his chest that he wanted to release. He wanted to find them and pay them back ten times the pain they gave him. He wanted to take a nice steaming bath and sleep forever in a soft bed. He wanted to find someone, someone he can trust and just cry and tell his story. But all he could do was to roll onto his back on the street and he closed his eyes again.
