Emptiness

Do you feel it?

The emptiness that surrounds us all,

Engulfing the very universe we live in

Yet, we don’t notice it.

To some, it is buried within them

But to most, it is their true reality

Swallowing up their pride,

Every inch of their happiness

Once it has taken over,

Emptiness turns into misery

Fencing them in,

Creating a barrier that cannot be escaped.

We don’t see it happening,

So we suspect everything is ok,

that their life must be great

because every time we see them they have a smile on their face.

Little do they know that every time someone asks

“Are you okay.”

They break a little more,

Adding to their pile of shards.

The moment the misery consumes its host

It takes over another,

Spreading its virus

Victim after victim.

Do you feel it yet?

The emptiness that surrounds us all,

Engulfing the very universe we live in,

And now, you must have it.
