Looking down at my city from this plane,
At last I’ve come to realize something.
That from afar everything seems plain,
But once you’re closer you see hidden things.
The ocean’s surface glistens like a gem,
It stretches far and seems to never end.
Yet underneath it is an unknown realm,
Of fish and sharks and underwater friends.
Look at the mountain and what do you see?
A big tall stone with some snow at the peak.
But go on a hike and you’ll see the trees,
Which are the homes and shelters that birds seek.
From the outside humans are flesh and bone,
But deep inside are stories of our own.
